Let’s start with one of my all-time favorite destinations: Venice. From the moment I set foot in this magical city, I knew it was love at first sight. Venice is like a page torn right out of a fairy tale, with its charming canals, awe-inspiring architecture, and an ambiance that never fails to steal my breath away. But there’s a catch—Venice is now absolutely packed with tourists and to the point that during the day you almost exclusively hear English.
As a wise Bostonian once put it, “More people are getting wealthier, but there is ONLY one Venice.” So, how do I manage to experience this enchanting city without the crowds? Well, I owe it all to my trusty companion, jetlag.
On a recent trip, I found myself waking up at 3 am due to the time difference. Instead of tossing and turning in my hotel room, I decided to make the most of it. I fired off a few emails, caught up on some news, and as the sun began to rise, I ventured out into the narrow streets of Venice. And let me tell you, it was nothing short of incredible!
During those precious early morning hours, Venice belongs to its residents. I strolled along the tourist-free alleys, crossed tiny bridges, and watched as the locals prepared for their bustling day. Gondolas were readied, streets were swept, and the aroma of freshly baked pastries and brewed espresso filled the air. I wish I could describe the scents to you, but alas, words don’t do justice. So, let’s just see the photo.
But Venice isn’t the only place where my jetlag has come to the rescue. Over the years, it’s introduced me to Australian friends in Sydney and allowed me to witness the breathtaking Machu Picchu emerging from the morning mist—an unforgettable sight, I must say.
Considering the growing popularity of Italy and other tourist hotspots, I urge you to give jetlag exploration a shot. Embrace those early wake-ups, and you’ll discover a whole new side of your favorite destinations.
Here’s another important tip for you in this new era of extremely touristy Europe (and many other parts of the world): don’t rely on last-minute deals. Plan ahead and book your travels early. We just secured our accommodations for our Greece and Turkey trip, and if you dream of experiencing a cave hotel in Cappadocia, trust me, early booking is the way to go (we got ours!).
Speaking of future adventures, we’re thrilled to announce our next hot destination: Morocco in November 2024. Yes, we’re aiming for the best riads, so don’t wait too long to reserve your spot. “Early” is the travel buzzword for 2024—early morning tours and early bookings. Trust me, your future jetlag self will thank you for it!
So, fellow travelers, let’s embrace the jetlag, explore the world at dawn, and make early plans for unforgettable adventures – here is the link to Morocco trip in 2024: https://colibritraveltours.com/morocco-tours/
