Czech Republic Itinerary and Poland
This is an example of the Czech Republic and Poland itinerary.
Remember: We are very happy to customize this itinerary to accommodate your group specific interests. We can make it longer or shorter and adjust the cost to fit different budgets.
Day 1 Flight to Czech Republic
Arrivals in Czech Republic.
Day 2 Prague
Guided tour around the Old City (UNESCO Heritage Site).
Day 3 Prague
Guided tour of Museum of Communism – learn about the oppression during this dark time and how the Velvet Revolution brought the system to collapse in November of 1989.
Food tour of Prague: try some of the most iconic Czech specialties like the “knedliczki”.
Day 4 Departure to Krakow (train)
Tour of wonderfully preserved Old Town with the famous Market Square.
Visit the Cloth Hall.
St Mary’s Basilica with its hourly trumpet call. Wandering the Old Town on foot,
St. Florian’s Gate and the Kraków Barbican
In the evening – Medieval dinner with local students.
Day 5 Auschwitz Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine
(Optional)
Auschwitz Birkenau: The infamous German Nazi death camp. A tour to Auschwitz is one of the most frequent trips made by people visiting Kraków. Detailing the heartbreaking history of this place, this trip may not be for everybody, as it can be an emotionally painful experience. We live it to the teachers to decide if this should be included in the itinerary.

- Dinner discussion on World War II in Poland
Wieliczka Salt Mine: Wieliczka Salt Mine is a UNESCO listed, historic, underground salt mine. After descending into the mine, we explore numerous caverns, visit an underground church and grand ballroom – yes, all made from salt.
- Evening dinner discussion with a local historian.
Day 6 Wawel
Visit Wawel Castle
Walk-in Old Kazimierz – the Jewish quarter
Try famous Zapiekanki – Polish warm sandwich
Free time
Day 7 Warsaw
Transfer to Warsaw in a high-speed train. Dinner in a train restaurant. Evening walk in the Warsaw Old Town.

Day 8 Warsaw
Tour of Warsaw:
- Polish Uprising Museum – interesting, outdoor, and indoor museum documenting the famous uprising.
- Palace of Culture and Science and its observation deck with great views of the City is a perfect start to our tour.
- Visit Wedel Chocolate Factory for a delicious tasting of hot chocolate
- From the city center, we travel to Lazienki Park and Palace on the Water
Warsaw is covered with “Chopin Benches”, where you can sit down and play Chopin’s music. We will have a competition on spotting those.
Day 9 Departures
Transfer to airport for flight to home.
You can extend this trip by adding a few days in Munich and Berlin (Germany), Budapest (Hungary), or Slovakia.

▹ Visa requirements for student trips to Czech Republic and Poland
✔︎ There are no special visa requirements for US citizens entering Czech Republic and Poland for less than 90 days. Please make sure your passport is valid for at least another 6 months and has empty pages.
▹ Health, Vaccinations
✔︎ All travelers need to be in good physical health in order to participate fully on this trip. When selecting your trip please make sure you have read through the itinerary carefully and assess your ability to manage and enjoy our style of travel. Please note that if in the opinion of our group leader or local guide any traveller is unable to complete the itinerary without undue risk to themselves and/or the rest of the group, we reserve the right to exclude them from all or part of a trip without refund. You should be able to walk at least 2-3 miles a day and be able to climb at least two sets of stairs.
✔︎ You should consult your doctor for up-to-date medical travel information or for any necessary vaccinations before departure.
✔︎ There are no major health risks associated with traveling to Poland and Czech Republic.
✔︎ At least 30 days prior to departure, check with your doctor or healthcare provider or visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website at cdc.gov.
✔︎ If you have medication that you take daily, be sure you have enough for each day of the tour and any possible delays ( we recommend additional 1-2 weeks of supply).
✔︎ If you tend to get motion sickness please travel with appropriate medication. If you have a sensitive stomach consider bringing imodium as well.

✔︎ Czech Republic and Poland operate on the European standard 220-240 volts and use Types C, E, or F plugs with two small, round pins.
✔︎ Please remember to bring a proper adapter.

✔︎ The Internet is available in all hotels although speed may vary.
✔︎ Please consult your phone plan provider for phone call and text messages, international charges and plans.
▹ Time zones
Czech Republic and Poland are both 6 hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET). 12 pm in New York is 6 PM in Czech Republic and Poland.
▹ Currency, cash, credit cards
✔︎ The currency in Czech Republic is Czech koruna and in Poland is Polish zloty.
✔︎ Better rates of exchange are usually available overseas
✔︎ ATMs are available in all major towns and cities and credit cards are generally available in tourist shops and restaurants. Visa and MasterCard are better than American Express, Diners. Smaller venues accept cash only.
▹ Baggage allowance
✔︎ Our travelers are limited to one checked bag and one carry-on bag per person due to storage limitations on motor coaches and other transfers, which may include train connections or flights. Additional baggage can be a subject of extra fees. Contact your airline for baggage size and weight restrictions for your flights.
✔︎ We recommend that you make sure you label your baggage and keep valuables, medication, and documents and a set of clothes, pijamas and cosmetics (travel size) in your carry-on bag in case of baggage delays. ber of your first hotel printed out.
▹ Tipping
✔︎ It’s customary to offer your guide and driver a gratuity in local currency. Please keep current exchange rates in mind.
✔︎ We recommend tipping the equivalent of $10 per day per person and giving the tips to tour leaders to distribute between drivers, guides etc.
✔︎ Tips can only be paid in cash.
