I highly recommend Colibri Travel & Tours. We have used Colibri for short term study tours over the past 5 years and have them booked in the future as well. Colibri has organized several faculty-led study abroad trips for us in Central and South America. Sylvia Rozwadowska-Shah is wonderful to work with. She connects with faculty to ensure the trip meets their goals. She also helps with cultural and historical site visits. Her trips are reasonably priced. Our trips are all-inclusive and Colibri does everything.
University of Kansas contracted Colibri Travel & Tours for the faculty-led Cuba trip in 2019. The staff at Colibri were incredibly collaborative throughout the process. They made sure to listen to the wants and needs of the faculty director. They also worked hard to address these needs. For example, they prepared alternatives beforehand if the originally planned sites and speakers were unavailable. Sylvia is well-connected to the local community and organizations as well as knowledgable on our subject matter. She also understood the importance of authentic engagement with the people, places, and themes the students were studying. The program is comprehensive and very competitively priced.
The faculty member leading this trip travelled to Cuba with three groups as well as led programs to Europe. As I am sitting here in my office looking out at the rain and cold weather, I cannot help but think back to last week and the wonderful opportunity for all of us individually and collectively to learn more about the Cuban people, their country, their government and observe their way of life. It was enriching and enlightening for me and certainly raised a number of thoughts about how we might seek to develop more relationships with the Cuban people and potentially their government. Of course, both the US and Cuba are in a state of transition and so our relationship building may take some time. However, we are now a bit smarter as to the interests of the Cuban people and their country thanks to your guidance and support along our tour through this most interesting country. We have also talked about how skilled and resourceful you were in guiding our group through this learning process. Your support and guidance made this trip a very special one for me and for all of the members of the group.

I've led several student trips over the years, organized by a few different vendors, and I can easily say that our group's trip to Cuba was the smoothest, most rewarding and magical experience I've had! Sylvia shared with us her authentic and compassionate perspective of Cuba, and every one of us came home having learned something important. We had a good balance of fun activities (a cave disco and a gorgeous beach) along with things like visiting a struggling community that found a way to work together to improve life in the neighborhood (Muraleando). Above all, Sylvia was really on top of anticipating the needs of our group. As the faculty leader, I often found that just as I began to realize that we were going to need something, Sylvia was already taking care of it! As we passed through customs on our way home, the other faculty chaperones and I joked about how life-changing it would be to have a "Sylvia" around all the time to help us!
