Traveling to Cuba means holding two truths at once. It means witnessing a country navigating severe economic hardships, while simultaneously encountering breathtaking natural beauty and a people whose warmth, joy, and community spirit are completely unshakeable.
Through the donations collected via Con Razón, our humanitarian journeys focus on standing shoulder-to-shoulder with local leaders.
Our days are built around steady, meaningful tasks alongside local partners who welcome us like old friends.
Here is an honest look at how we work together.
Listening First: The Community Dinner
Shortages of food, fuel, and medicine are a daily reality in Cuba. Because of this, we never show up with a rigid, pre-made plan. We always begin by sitting down for a meal with the leaders of the grassroots projects Con Razón supports: Proyecto Vida, Casita de Husillo, Proyecto Liva, Mar Vivo Cuba, and our veterinary partners. This is our space to listen, learn, and ensure our support aligns perfectly with their real, daily needs.
Protecting the Ocean with Mar Vivo Cuba
Cuba is rich in stunning coastlines that deserve protection. We join the team at Mar Vivo Cuba and local children from the Husillo neighborhood for beach cleanups. Working together, the kids’ laughter is infectious as we help protect the marine life surrounding their island.
Meeting Urgent Needs with Proyecto Liva
Food scarcity in Havana is a difficult reality. We spend time with Proyecto Liva—an incredible restaurant that intentionally employs individuals with autism. Together, we pack nutritious food boxes and distribute them on the streets of Havana to people in critical need. It is a sobering but deeply human experience.
Building the Husillo Shelter
Con Razón purchased a house in the Husillo community to serve as a temporary shelter for vulnerable children. Our groups dive into the physical labor—painting, scraping walls, and helping with renovations. We work alongside local residents who fight every day to build a safer, brighter future for these kids.
